The charity's mission is to improve global health by promoting the understanding of obesity and weight-related diseases through scientific research and dialogue, whilst encouraging the development of effective policies for their prevention and management.
The Obesity Forum's main objective is to further such charitable purposes for the benefit of those suffering from medical conditions related to obesity as the members of the Council of Management think fit from time to time in particular but not exclusively by: .Preventing and relieving those with medical conditions related to obesity; .Advancing the education of the general public on the causes and harmful effects of obesity and recognition of obesity as a medical condition; .Improving medical management and treatment of obesity; and .Conducting or promoting or encouraging research or training of any person connected with the care, welfare, treatment and support of those suffering with obesity and dissemination of knowledge.
3. THE COMPANY'S OBJECTS (THE OBJECTS) ARE 3.1 TO PROMOTE AND ADVANCE THE EDUCATION AND HEALTH OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC PARTICULARLY THROUGH THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY OF A RANGE OF PROGRAMMES TO COMBAT OBESITY AND IMPROVE THE WELLBEING OF OBESE CHILDREN AND ADULTS DELIVERED WITH RESPECT FOR THE INDIVIDUAL DIGNITY OF ALL PARTICIPANTS; AND 3.2 TO DO SUCH OTHER THINGS AS MAY BE INCIDENTAL, CONDUCIVE OR ANCILLARY TO THE ATTAINMENT OR IN FURTHERANCE OF SUCH OBJECTS.
TO RELIEVE PERSONS SUFFERING FROM OBESITY AND WEIGHT RELATED PROBLEMS, PARTICULARLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY THOSE WHO ARE PLANNING TO OR WHO HAVE UNDERGONE SURGERY, BY THE PROVISION OF ADVICE, INFORMATION AND SUPPORT AND SUCH OTHER SERVICES AS THE TRUSTEES DEEM NECESSARY INCLUDING ASSOCIATION WITH HEALTH PROFESSIONALS WITH A VIEW TO IMPROVING THE SERVICES PROVIDED AND THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR SUCH PERSONS.
EASO aims to promote research into obesity, facilitate contact between individuals and organisations, and promote action that tackles the epidemic of obesity.
TO PROMOTE MEDICAL RESEARCH INTO THE CAUSES, PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF OBESITY AND RELATED SUBJECTS AND TO ESTABLISH, PRINT, PUBLISH, ISSUE, CIRCULATE AND SELL SUCH PAPERS, JOURNALS, BOOKS, MAGAZINES, PERIODICALS, AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS, TAPES AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS.
TO PROMOTE THE RELIEF OF ILLNESS, DISABILITY AND SUFFERING IN SUCH WAYS AS THE CHARITY SHALL FROM TIME TO TIME THINK FIT WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, NATIONALITY, CREED, AGE, GENDER OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND WITHOUT GEOGRAPHICAL RESTRICTION AND IN PARTICULAR (BUT WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF SUCH OBJECTS): - (A) BY ESTABLISHING A SELF-REGULATORY PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR WEIGHT MANAGEMENT CLINICS FOR THE PROPER CARE, TREATMENT AND EDUCATION OF PERSONS WHO ARE SUFFERING OBESITY (SUCH PERSONS HEREAFTER REFERRED TO AS "THE BENEFICIARIES"); (B) BY CONDUCTING OR PROMOTING OR ENCOURAGING RESEARCH AND EVALUATION INTO THE CARE, WELFARE, TREATMENT AND SUPPORT OF THE BENEFICIARIES AND THE DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE; (C) BY PROVIDING OR ENCOURAGING OR ASSISTING IN THE TEACHING OR TRAINING OF ANY PERSON CONNECTED WITH THE CARE, TREATMENT OR WELFARE OF THE BENEFICIARIES AND BY PROVIDING OR FACILITATING THE PROVISION OF VOCATIONAL TRAINING OR OTHER TRAINING SERVICES TO SUCH PERSONS; TO PROVIDE ADVICE AND ASSISTANCE TO OTHERS ON MATTERS WITHIN THE OBJECTS OF THE CHARITY EITHER FREE OF CHARGE OR SUBJECT TO SUCH PAYMENT AS THE CHARITY MAY THINK FIT; ("THE OBJECTS")
1) TO PROVIDE PSYCHOLOGICAL, PHYSICAL AND NUTRITIONAL HELP AND SUPPORT TO THE PEOPLE RESIDENT IN SOUTH WALES WHO ARE CLINICALLY OBESE AND THOSE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH WEIGHT MANAGEMENT AND EATING DISORDERS.
